Michael O. Azat - Partner
Michael focuses his practice on trial work and advising his corporate and individual clients on local, state, and federal compliance issues. Michael represents plaintiffs and individuals in plaintiff's actions and complex corporate litigation, and also has defended his clients in various criminal matters. Michael is a former federal prosecutor, having served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the criminal division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California. There he prosecuted criminal cases that involved drug trafficking, financial crimes, and public corruption. Before he served as a federal prosecutor, Michael worked in ‘Biglaw’ at the international law firm Nixon Peabody where he represented multi-national corporations and foreign nations in global disputes, and also defended criminal defendants in federal court.
A native of Los Angeles, Michael returned home to attend law school at the University of Southern California after he earned the rank of Captain in the United States Marines Corps while serving as a Military Police Officer.

Issa Azat, Jr. - Partner
Issa works with individual and corporate clients in a wide range of both civil and criminal litigation. Prior to forming The Azat Law Group with his brother Michael, Issa was a criminal prosecutor with the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office and the San Diego County District Attorney's Office. During his time as a prosecutor, Issa handled thousands of cases ranging from simple misdemeanors to serious and violent felonies, and tried well over a dozen cases to final jury verdict. Issa's time in the public sector also allowed him to work under Los Angeles City Attorneys Carmen Trutanich and Mark Feuer, each of whom helped transform Los Angeles with their innovative cannabis and law enforcement regulations.
Prior to his legal career, Issa grew up in the greater Los Angeles area and moved to New England to attend high school and college. While attending Tufts University, Issa played ice hockey and was a four-year NCAA collegiate athlete. Thereafter, Issa returned home to attend Loyola Law School in downtown Los Angeles.
